名人诗歌|Teacher's Prayer(教师的心愿)

I want to teach my students how to live this life on earth,

To face its struggle and its strife^{1 and improve their worth.}

Not just the lesson in a book or how the rivers flow,

But how to choose the proper path wherever they may go.

To understand eternal^{2 truth and know the right from wrong,}

And gather all the beauty of a flower and a song.

For if I help the world to grow in wisdom and in grace^3,

Then, I shall feel that I have won and I have filled my place.

And so I ask my guidance, God, that I may do my part,

For character and confidence and happiness of heart.

教师的心愿

我想教会学生怎么样去生活，

怎么样面对困难，健全自我。

不仅仅是书本常识或是自然奥秘，

而是怎么样走好生活之旅。

掌握去分辨是非，找寻真理，

从平凡的点滴中挖掘美的韵律。

假如我的存在使这个世界愈加绚丽，

那样我也就达成了我们的生活目的。

所以苍天作证，我已全心全意，

解释了品格、信心和幸福的真谛。
