Albert Schweitzer was born in 1875 in Alsace. At thattime, it was a part of Germany. [32]His generousspirit was first awakened through his trainingas a preacher. The treat of war, the reality of imprisonment duringWorld War One as a German citizen and the unbearable heat in Africa did not make himretreat at all. He believed that a man could overcome these obstacles if he had a sense ofidealism. He died in 1965.
