请问one third the length 为何中间没of？
譬如说成：one third of the length
由于我见过以下例句：
Forests cover one thirdof the country. 森林覆盖了该国三分之一的面积。
On weekdays, one third ofthe room functions as workspace. 在工作日，房间的1/3用作办公地区。
One third of thecommittee comes up for election every year. 每年有三分之一的委员要改选。

1.先说结论：
教程中的句子可以添加of，即教程中的 one third the length…也可说成 one thirdof the length
正如曹老师所说：有of时，分数词是中心词；没of时，分数词是前位限定词。
依据剑桥语法、柯林斯语法等，分数用作限定词时，其后一般只限于接抽象名词（特别是表示数目意义的抽象名词）。如：
one third theprice of the house 房屋价格的三分之一
three-quarters the length of the rope 绳子长度的四分之三
two thirds the population 人口的三分之二
one-third the size of the box 箱子大小的三分之一
one-third the profits 收益的三分之一
若是具体名词，则需要要用of（此时分数不是限定词，而是中心词）。如：
误：one third the book
正：one third of the book
