在网上看到上面一篇文章，有几个方面非常是不解：
1)网上说只能sufferings,不可以是单数suffering,理由是前面的定语people's 决定后面要复数。我非常是不解，suffering可以是不可数名词，有什么不可呢？
2)目前分词leaving表示结果状语，能理解。但假如改用to leave表目的状语，以前后逻辑句意上来看，也可以呀！？对吗？
3) After he shot down the sun - 这一句好像有问题，the sun 指什么呢？而且一共有10个太阳，应该射掉9个，留下一个。我感觉应该改成After he shot down the 9 suns, 对吗？

牛津：suffering：[uncountable] physical or mental pain
sufferings：[plural] feelings of pain and unhappiness
由此可知，suffering为不可数名词，意为身体或精神痛苦；而sufferings为复数名词，意为痛苦或不愉快的感觉，二者意思是不一样的。所以要尊重译者的用词，不要随便改动。
shot down the suns leaving only one... 当射下第九个太阳的瞬间，leaving的动作就发生了，即状语动作和谓语动作是首尾衔接的二个动作，状语要用目前分词，不可以用不定式。用不定式则表示谓语动作发生时，状语的动作还没发生。
最后这一点你是正确的，the sun 应改为the nine suns.
